Contraceptive Coverage

CampusCare covers contraceptives for Dependents only. Please refer to Appendix D for the Birth Control Formulary in our Certificate of Coverage.
The Student Health Service Fee is a mandated fee that already covers birth control. To save our members money, CampusCare does not cover contraceptives that are covered by the Student Health Service Fee. Beginning 8/16/2020 CampusCare covers IUD and implantable contraceptive devices that are obtained at a CampusCare Primary Care Provider.
Students may obtain select contraceptives under the Student Health Service fee at a discounted rate at the University Village and Eye & Ear Infirmary Pharmacies on campus. Click here for Pharmacy locations and information.
CampusCare is a self-funded student health benefit plan operating under the approval of the Board of Trustees for the University of Illinois. CampusCare is not traditional health insurance coverage nor a group health plan which is a major contributing factor in our ability to keep student and family medical premium costs low and one of the most affordable in the nation. The Department of Health and Human Services does not provide oversight of our unique benefit structure.
